Maintain Hope Through Constructive Action One Step at a Time

Regardless of the doomsday news about the decline of American Society and the middle class, carrying on in your current job or situation as though you’re better off today than you were yesterday is a good practice. It’s more important to act as though this is true than to 100% believe it.

You can do this by holding in your mind the thought that you are moving forward and the possibility exists that one day you may have the job of your dreams or improved circumstances. This is a true statement and worth repeating, similar to “fake it ‘til you make it” but an honest version.

Decide on at least one thing to do the following day, whether you want to do it or not, that will help you achieve your goal. If that day goes by and you don’t do anything, decide again the course of action for the next day. Eventually, you will establish a habit of action.

For some, a course of action might be to apply to one new job a day. For others, it might be to learn a new skill or establishing a connection with someone at work. Whatever it is, just keep moving forward.

To live a constructive life requires practice, and a decision to act one step at a time.

It’s helpful to remember that there are times you don’t know why something is happening to you or is important until much later in life and you look back.
