The Disappeared
The first people in the U.S. to get picked up and deported to foreign countries without legal hearings, have been undocumented people.
The second group are immigrants who are in the U.S. legally – but involved in protests against U.S. policy, or something else like running a food business in a busy location wearing a headscarf – because these people are visible and easy for ICE to pick off. It’s no longer uncommon for people to have their legal I-94 Green Cards revoked and then be deported.
People have started to be “disappeared,” and bits and pieces of stories of what’s happened to them are leaking out to the press.
This includes about the establishment of detention facilities in Panama and El Salvador and deportees imprisoned there.
Self-deporting propaganda in public service announcements is being disseminated to immigrants encouraging them to “leave now or we will find you,” according to Kristi Noem, Director of Homeland Security.
The activity against legal and illegal immigrants is only the beginning of Trump’s authoritarian regime. Someday, if things continue the way they’re going, freedom of speech crackdowns will include journalists and eventually ordinary citizens.
This is why the most positive news in America right now, is people protesting everywhere – like at Columbia University Jewish students wearing shirts that say, “Not in our Name,” or Indivisible groups across the country wearing shirts that say, “Hands Off.”
Perhaps one day, Americans will stand together across the country and sing, “we’re not going to take it anymore,” and vote the current regime out – but no one can count on this happening.
However, If this day comes, here’s praying that Americans’ learn a valuable lesson, pass legislation, and teach future generations to never let autocracy happen again.
Paramount are safeguards against commandeering and misusing words and acronyms like DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion) for diabolical purposes to violate civil rights laws and the U.S. constitution.
Also needed to guard against fraud, is the increased usage of fact checking and labeling of sources of information on social media.
People Standing Up Everywhere
On January 3, 2025, James Carville, a political strategist, told Ari Melber on MSNBC that Trump would go after Medicaid first.
Turned out that Trump and Musk went after immigrants first and seniors second – with executive action to end lowering drug prices. USAID and the American farmers were next followed by the dismantling of all federal agencies.
Bullies have a way of taking out the easy prey – the old, sick and vulnerable groups. But today Trump and Musk are going after everything else except their chosen elite, including law firms, and doubling back to gouge out more money via tariffs. Why? Because nothing has stopped them.
However, if you want to rile up Americans – steal their money and watch what happens.
Americans don’t like it when people get screwed over – like the poor around the world, farmers, teachers, and civil servants that run the government.
They don’t like it when people are fired from jobs that keep our food and water safe, give us weather forecasts, deliver mail or taking care of our national parks. Get rid of all regulations and eliminate the health and medical systems and safety net for veterans and the American people – and look out.
Americans generally don’t like bullies – people who hate gay people, minorities, and immigrants, start fights or attempt to takeover countries.
They also don’t like people who can’t tell the truth. This is why people are getting mad as hell and taking whatever action they can by not buying Tesla cars and shouting at town halls.
During the 2024 Presidential election, Americans were bamboozled by promises to reduce the price of eggs, and snookered by social media misinformation. However, if the majority of Americans finally get the message through the suffering they endure during this attempted Trump coup– it won’t happen again.
Exodus For Mental Health, Personal Freedom, and Education Reasons
In the United States – all manner of moving is happening. This includes taking action through protesting as well as physically moving within or out of the country including self-deportation.
The quiet exodus started ahead of the January 20, 2025 Presidential Inauguration by those with the vision, determination and financial means to make bold moves to leave the U.S. in pre-fascist America.
But for most Americans, statistics show that by the end of 2024 they had moved the least in U.S. history.
This is why some Americans without resources are determined to stay and fight for their communities – declaring that they aren’t going anywhere.
Others will scrape together whatever money they can to move to a Blue state, city or town before hunkering down to protect themselves and their families through the Trump regime years.
People with children or wanting to start families, may opt to move to a state that does not require bible stories be taught in school or history lessons altered to meet a right-wing agenda.
They may seek out educated populations where people are vigilant to prevent the dumbing down of American culture, and fight for good public schools and libraries with no book banning.
Additionally, people may seek out states with Christian churches that support the separation of church and state – preferring to keep politics out of religious practices.
The bottom line is that mental health and personal freedom are key factors in wanting to move somewhere where beliefs align and haters are left behind.
For example, for some it would be impossible to live in Texas with a governor like Abbott putting up barbed wire at the border and establishing deportation centers.
The mass exodus from Red states like Texas, could be caused not only from the desire to escape MAGA culture, but also to live in places committed to helping all of their citizens.
Those Fleeing for Economic Reasons, Personal Safety and Health
Some people have no choice but to move in 2025/2026. This is why a new dust bowl era to get somewhere to survive with little or no money is upon us. As people lose jobs or resources, those with the least ability to do so may have to make bold moves anyway.
This includes older people forced to move due to loss of income from SSI, Social Security, and/or Veteran Benefits. As Elon Musk refers to people on social security as “parasites,” losing retirement income and benefits – because of an attitude of being a burden on society, is more likely to occur under the Trump regime.
Other groups of people will have to move now to avoid persecution and deportation.
Those affected first are undocumented people waiting inside the U.S. for asylum hearings, and others in the U.S. illegally.
LGTBQ+ people may also feel the urgency to move out of Red states due to lifestyle restrictions including restroom usage.
Health compromised people may also feel they have to move now to live where mandatory vaccinations are required by everyone except the health compromised. Good options for them include states that require children get vaccinated to attend school – and only severely health compromised children can get waivers.
Women of childbearing age may also feel the need to flee to Blue states for a variety of health and safety reasons to avoid risks associated with pregnancy.
Where Can People Get to? Is There Anywhere Safe?
Sanctuary States:
It may prove that the sanctuary states are not only safer for immigrants, but also for many Americans described in this article.
The 13 states listed by the Center for Immigration Studies are: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont and Washington.
Conclusion
In the near future, many Americans will decide whether to stay or move, but one thing is certain: If Americans want to save democracy and America’s free society, they will have to put aside their differences to unite against tyranny, as they did at the founding of The United States of America.
In other words Americans fought a revolution once and they could do it again.
However, if Americans choose not to (or are unable to) unite to fight the common enemy of tyranny, individually they will have to get to where they feel most likely to survive under a dictatorship.
The time to decide is now.
